Privacy Policy

1. The short version
Sunday Schism is a single-player card game made by an independent developer (NorseHorse). We collect as little information as possible — no name, no email, no location, no contacts, no photos. The only data we touch is what's needed to save your progress and improve game balance. This policy explains exactly what that means.
2. Information we collect
When you play Sunday Schism, the following information may be collected:
- Anonymous device identifier. A randomly generated identifier so your saved games and unlocked cards can sync to your device. This is not your Apple ID, phone number, or email. It cannot be used to identify you personally.
- Gameplay telemetry. Anonymous, aggregated data about how the game is played — which cards are played, win/loss outcomes, run length, and which side (Catholic or Baptist) was chosen. We use this only to balance the game.
- Crash reports. If the app crashes, Apple may collect anonymous crash data on our behalf if you have analytics sharing enabled in iOS Settings. You can disable this in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements.
3. Information we do not collect
We do not collect, store, or transmit any of the following:
- Your name, email address, or phone number
- Your real-world location
- Your contacts, photos, or microphone access
- Your Apple ID or any account credentials
- Your IP address (beyond what's needed for our server logs, which are not linked to your gameplay data)
- Any payment information — the app is free with no in-app purchases
4. How we use your data
The limited data we collect is used only to:
- Save your card collection and run progress so you can pick up where you left off
- Improve game balance by understanding which cards and strategies are over- or under-powered
- Fix bugs and crashes
We do not sell, rent, share, or trade your data with anyone. There is no advertising in Sunday Schism, and no advertising partners receive any data from us.
5. Third parties
Sunday Schism uses the following third-party services:
- Apple. The app runs on iOS. Apple's standard analytics and crash reporting may apply if you've opted in via iOS Settings. See Apple's privacy policy.
- Our server. Sunday Schism connects to a server operated by the developer to sync game data. The server stores only the anonymous device identifier and gameplay telemetry described above.
We do not use Google Analytics, Facebook SDK, Firebase, or any other tracking or advertising library.
6. Children's privacy
Sunday Schism is rated 12+ on the App Store. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (or the equivalent age of digital consent in your jurisdiction). Because we collect no personal information from anyone, this generally cannot happen, but if you believe a child has provided personal information through the app, please contact us and we will delete the relevant data.
7. Your rights
Because we collect no personally identifiable information, we cannot link any data we hold back to a specific individual. If you would like to request deletion of the anonymous data associated with your device, you can:
- Delete the app from your device, which removes your local data immediately
- Email us at kgstew96@gmail.com with your anonymous device identifier (visible in the app's Settings screen) and we'll delete the corresponding server-side data within 30 days
If you are located in the European Economic Area, United Kingdom, or California, you have additional rights under the GDPR, UK GDPR, and CCPA, including the right to access, correct, or delete your data, and to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. Email us to exercise any of these rights.
8. Data retention
Anonymous gameplay data is retained for as long as your device interacts with the game. If your device hasn't connected to our server in 24 months, we delete the associated data automatically.
9. Security
Data in transit between the app and our server is encrypted using TLS. Data at rest on the server is stored on infrastructure with industry-standard access controls. No system is perfectly secure, but because we collect no personal information, the worst-case impact of a breach is the disclosure of anonymous gameplay statistics.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent change. Significant changes will be announced in the app.
11. Contact
Sunday Schism is operated by an independent developer based in the United States. Questions, requests, or concerns can be sent to kgstew96@gmail.com.
